Plainfield Wrestlers Finish Second at Mid-State Conference Championships

The Plainfield wrestling team delivered a strong showing at the Mid-State Conference Championships, finishing second overall in a highly competitive field and showcasing the depth and toughness of the Quaker lineup. Plainfield crowned two Mid-State champions, led by Kellen Schoeff at 113 pounds and Kylle Riley at 132. Both wrestlers battled through their brackets to earn conference titles. Two Quakers reached the finals, with Nate Day earning runner-up honors at 157 pounds and Bricen Spears placing second at 106. The podium success continued with Drew White finishing third at 190 pounds, while Harrison Sarault (120) and Dalton Jones (144) also placed third in their respective weight classes. Coach Jones praised his team’s effort following the meet. “Our kids competed. We finished second as a team, coming up just short of an outstanding Franklin Community squad, and that tells you a lot about the heart and toughness of this group. This team proved it can stand toe-to-toe with the best, and the best wrestling is still ahead of them.” Quakers Post Great Results Over Winter Break: Over the semester break, the Plainfield wrestling program put together a successful stretch of wrestling. Most notably, the Quakers were voted into the 3A Team State Tournament by the Indiana Wrestling Coaches Association for the first time in program history. Plainfield entered the tournament as the No. 10 seed and faced New Palestine, marking a milestone for the program. At the Mooresville Holiday Classic on Dec. 30–31, Plainfield finished ninth out of 32 teams, led by five individual placers: 106 – Bricen Spears: 3rd 113 – Kellen Schoeff: Runner-Up 150 – Nate Day: 7th 157 – Aiden Healy: 7th 215 – Connor Denaut: 4th The winter break concluded on a high note when the Quakers went a perfect 6–0 at the Braves Brawl on January 3, capturing the team championship trophy, the program’s first since 2018.
